July was a Tough Month for My Blogging

30 July 2009 · Leave a Comment

My hats are off to the people out there, the typical part-time writers called bloggers, who can get a post up everyday. I don’t know how you can do it.

This has been a heck of a month for me. With work, the farm, new house, and life in general, my blogging time was been whittled down almost nothing during July. But you have to have priorities…I have to put food on the table, pay my “fair share” to the state, and what’s left in the bank.

If you read this little rant, thanks for being patient.

Oath Keeper: Protectors of the Constitution

15 March 2009 · 6 Comments

I heard about this group, Oath Keepers, last week on The Alex Jones Show and I wanted to share this with you. This is a movement of law enforcement and US military who affirm the US Constitution. Here is their formal pronouncement:

OATH KEEPERS: ORDERS WE WILL NOT OBEY

1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people

3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.

6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.

7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control.”

9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.

10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

As a former soldier, I fully support this and I think you should as well. All peace officers and military take an oath to uphold the US Constitution and need to remember that fact. If you know someone who is a peace officer or military, send the link to Oath Keepers to them and ask them to read the information on the site. This is too important not to.

State of Ohio Blogger Alliance

8 March 2009 · Leave a Comment

This blog is now part of the State of Ohio Blogger Alliance, or as the crew affectionately refer to themselves, the SOBers. The SOB Alliance is group of right side bloggers, ranging from rabid and slightly confused Republicans to traditional Conservatives to Neo-libertarians, who for the most part have a good understanding of the world we live in and write some very enjoyable and informative weblogs.

Once I can get a widget that will publish Bloglines I’ll have the links to all of the writers along the right hand side of the page.

The ORP Reads Reason Magazine?

5 March 2009 · Leave a Comment

I was shocked to see that the blogging staff at the Ohio Republican Party actually reads the libertarian magazine Reason. Well miracles do happen! Now let’s see if the party leadership can actually embrace economic freedoms.

Dropping Off the Face of the Earth

31 January 2009 · Leave a Comment

I know I am not alone when conflict comes between ones job and blogging, but a month has gone by and I have not posted anything and feel pretty crappy about that. I apologize for the deficient content, but I hope to be up and running very soon.

Media Bais and The Future of Blogging

15 December 2008 · 1 Comment

The EyeHackerBlog has a post today linking to a Pew Research study detailing the significant amount of media bias supporting the Obama campaign. I don’t think it would come to a surprise to any one that reads the MSM, but the chart enclosed points to a fairly significant level that should be of concern.

There is an aspect that does concern me and it has to do with the future of blogging and the increase of media bias. There has been a lot of criticism in the MSM leveled at bloggers and their new unintended position with the spectrum of the media. Generally most writers in the MSM think bloggers should be regulated, kept from participating in news conferences, held to judicatory standards, to name a few of the methods used to curb blogging to keeping them from further encroachment into the “domain” of the reporter.

Yet at the same time considering if we consider the amount of media bias, for instance the report contained above, one has to conclude that the separation between the body politic and the media is merging. There has been a number of writers during the last few years warning of the new government media complex and the government’s use of the media in propaganda dissemination. Certainly in this country we have seen a symbiotic relationship between government and the media, but there was always a healthy distance kept between the two.

However if this merging (or it might actually be an absorption by the government of the media) continues to grow as witnessed in the last presidential election (1), will we see the government absorb the media completely, at least the national media, under it’s umbrella? Or possibly as the MSM becomes taken over and dominated by large global corporations will we witness a fascist type alliance between business and government? One is thing is becoming abundantly clear, the MSM in this country has long abandon it’s role in our democracy.

So what does that mean for blogging? Well I think we’ll see legislation that will constrict and seek to eliminate blogging as the MSM becomes an official tool of the US Government. We have two groups that despise free speech; one the political class and other the media class. To each blogging is a threat, and to each blogging is threat not only to there class position but to their pocket books. Money and power are threatened by blogging. I predict blogging will be targeted for elimination, mark my word. Nothing lasts long in this country when it threatens politics, the media and money. Blogging will come under fire,  mark my word.

1. From a purely empirical position I noted during the primary John McCain received better coverage throughout the race. Even when he was in last place he was still receiving great coverage. How much media bias contributed to McCain’s Republican victory is anyone’s guess, but I have to think that it did have significant impact, especially against a solid Romney effort.

BlogNetNews Ohio

9 October 2008 · Leave a Comment

I have been reading the various weblogs from Ohio that are published on a site called BlognetNews.Com/Ohio. It’s a large nationwide site that has separate pages for each state also.

While I know there are other good Ohio based weblogs out there, this particular site provides a fair range of the various political and ideological perspectives across our state. Check it out when you get a chance.
